It’s My First Ever Blog Post… Hi!

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to my first blog post. I’m super excited to introduce myself, share a little about where i’m from, and talk about how reading, writing, and of course, fashion, play out in my everyday life! 🙂

I’m originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota! Growing up in the city was a great foundation for finding lots and lots of creative communities, but my true turning point in writing was when I was a sophomore in high school when I joined journalism.

Prior to taking journalism, writing just felt like something I was forced to do. The constant guidelines, the rubrics, and the topics that just felt so incredibly boring, it was totally not my style. But once I actually started to work on stories of my own, it all started to make sense. I realized I wasn’t just about cranking out a five page essay the night before it’s due, it’s about your own voice, and writing about things that actually matter to you. Journalism taught me to get straight to the point without fluffing my writing in order to achieve a better grade. With that being said, I am by no means a professional writer, so expect these posts to have a nice balance of direct commentary, and very casual energy.

In this course, I hope to improve my writing even more, while pulling myself away from the typical formatting rules I learned in high school. Basically I want anyone and everyone reading this to be just as engaged as I was writing this, I promise it’ll be worth your while.

I Live and Breathe Fashion

When I’m not writing, I’m basically consumed whole by fashion. My amazing mom used to work in the industry, so I literally grew up around runway videos, fabric swatches, magazines, and much more. Vogue, The Business of Fashion, and Elle are three websites I check religiously. Fashion was never just a random phase for me, it was and always will be my world.

Things really came full circle when I started modeling myself when I was 15. Having access to the industry firsthand gave me a whole new perspective on a world I had been idolizing since I was little. As a model, I’ve gotten opportunities to meet with designers, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and other creatives in the industry.

Whether I’m watching runway archives, or just debating what my next clothing purchase will be, fashion is truly it’s own language. It takes a very specific eye to read mood boards, understand the culture and the history, and turning something material into something deeper. The purpose of this blog is to share my knowledge to those who may be interested, or to the people who just want something to read, thats fine too 🙂
